The Compass
Every navigator needs one.
I spent a lifetime building mine.
The Vagabond Way Is A Way Of Life
I've been lost. Not metaphorically. Not just emotionally. Not just mentally. Actually lost.
I’ve been lost in places where a wrong turn could easily mean death. And what got me home again wasn’t a map. Maps are someone else's record of someone else's journey. What got me home was knowing how to take a bearing: where am I, what is the terrain doing, and which direction is actually mine.
The Compass is the framework I built from thirty years of finding my own way across continents, through kitchens, into and out of burnout, from the saddle of a motorcycle to the helm of my own businesses. It's not a personality test, and it's not a five-step plan. It's an instrument. You learn to read it, and then it works anywhere, for the rest of your life.
The Shape Of It
Eight archetypes sit around the rose. Not types that you are, but roles that need representation. You've already played most of them. The question is never “which one am I?” It's “which one does this stretch of trail call for?”
At the center stands the Captain, the one who has to make the call, including the call that a role belongs to someone else. And outside the ring entirely, there's the Nomad, because some seasons of a life don't belong on anyone's chart, and knowing that is part of the skill.
I spent more than half my adult life as the Nomad, wandering with little aim. What I learned out there became the Compass. You can learn in a season what took me decades to map.
That's as much of the map as I'll show you here. The rest, we build together. Through our coaching sessions, we will build your compass. You’ll learn what goes into it. You’ll learn how to use it. And that is something to take on every journey. For the rest of your life.
What It's For
I use the Compass with leaders, owners, and builders who are navigating growth, burnout, or
transition. People carrying more than one life at once. The work isn't me handing you my map.
My map won't work for you. The work is you learning to draw your own, and me walking the first miles alongside.
With your map, and the compass we build together, you'll have the tools to navigate whatever terrain comes next.
